Dakine Avalanche Backpacks with the Mammoth R.A.S. system
Since 2011, the Mammut-developed R.A.S. (Removable Airbag System) system has been on the market. For winter 2016, the system became version R.A.S. 3.0 developed further and is since then (so also in the winter season 2017/18) in use.
The R.A.S. avalanche airbag system is removable and is compatible with selected Dakine ski and snowboard backpacks. Once integrated with the Dakine backpack, it is triggered at the top of the pack. The balloons blow in seconds left and right behind the body of the ski and snowboarder.
The shape of the buoyancy bodies has not changed since 2011. However, improvements were made to the material of the balloons. They are now even more resistant. The balloons are colored in a bright neon orange, so that the partially buried can be located faster.
The R.A.S. System weighs only 700 grams and is with its 2 liter volume much more compact than in 2011.
